At a very young age, I did not need to go anywhere to learn about art. My father, Late Shri Shishu Ranjan Das was a Senior Artist in charge of the Ajanta Caves and later became a professor at the Government Art College. So, I got the golden opportunity to visualize and practice art in my home.

In those days, my home had become a meeting place for lots of artists and students. So, I was brought up in an atmosphere where culture of art was present day and night. This atmosphere had made a great impact on my life as an artist. Consequently, right from my childhood I developed an innate eye for understanding art.

I got admission to the Government Art College, here I learnt the traditional art forms like tempera, wash, pencil and many others, but I developed a keen interest in Water Color Wash technique. In 1995, after graduating from Art College, I was presented with many opportunities to try and explore my wash technique. With this art process I got the inspiration to apply creativity to my work.

Along with this I started participating in the competitions held at different famous art galleries in Kolkata. I started working at the Golpark Ramkrishna Mission in 1996 and consequently my mythological based paintings are part of the collection at the mission. Some are also held at the Golpark Museum and one painting is at the LIC, Behala Branch of Kolkata.

In 2003, I held my first solo show at the Chemould Art Gallery and some of my wash based painting were well received. My ?nude study? in Wash has received special praise in the leading Newspaper (Telegraph) of Kolkata by art critic Kishore Chaterjee. As a result I started receiving invitation to galleries such as the Birla Academy of Kolkata and many other groups.

All these approvals and praises created interest among several Indians and foreign collectors and they started collecting my work of art. The celebrated artist of Germany/Norway, Dag Hol has collected my work of art.

I am now experimenting using the technique of wash in Chinese ink and dry pastel in order to develop my wash works. My expertise in wash works has kept on inspiring me.

The revolution in art and culture that started under the able guidance of Rabindranath Tagore, in the 19th Century and the resultant works all over the world have been adeptly carried forward by my innovative soul.
